Valentine’s Blocks

Here’s a set of Valentine’s blocks I created with some pined wood, paper, and vinyl.  I cut my blocks at 3.5″, 4″, and 4.5″, and painted them an antique white.  I picked some cute Valentine’s day paper, and cut them just a bit smaller than my blocks.  I trimmed the corners with my rounded corner punch, and stuck them on with some mod podge.  (I meant to ink the edges before sticking them on, but forgot)  I cut my vinyl out to spell the word LOVE, and tried to do them smaller than my paper (I screwed up with the O though).  If you...

HOME Blocks

I felt like getting crafty today with all my unfinished wood, so I decided to make a set of HOME blocks.  I used 1 x 4 pine wood, cut into 4 inch tall blocks, and set them on a 2 x 2 square piece of pine cut at 14 inches long.  I picked out some mostly teal, black and grey patterned scrapbook papers for my background, and used grey cardstock for the lettering.  I cut the letters out with my handy dandy Cricut machine and mod podged everything on.  After clear coating all the blocks, I decorated them with some paper flowers, ribbon, and gems.  I’m really happy...

Chalkboard Blocks

Crafty Canada is now making chalkboard blocks!  They’re 4 1/4″H x 3 1/2″W, and are so versatile.  You can put them together to make words or names, use them separately for writing notes or recipes, or they could be used for table numbers at a wedding or other function.  These cute little blocks can also be decorated according to season.  I like to use sticky tabs on my flowers to stick them on, rather than nailing the flowers on, that way the flower colors can be changed for fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. My niece...

Valentine’s Day Photo Blocks

I wanted to make a little something for Valentine’s Day, and I keep seeing these amazing photo blocks everywhere, so I had to try making a set for myself.  Mine are pretty basic, and the first photo set I’ve done, but I love how easy they are to make! I used some 2×4 wood that I cut into blocks, painted them with some brown acrylic paint, and mod podged my pre-cut photos onto them.  I did a little distressing around the edges of the wood before sticking on my pictures, and I used a rounded corner punch on my pics as well.  I bought a cheap rolling pin...

Wood Love Letters

Today’s inspiration was Valentine’s day.  I decided to try my hand at cutting out a new font style.  I ended up using the Script MT Bold font because I like that the “O” was open at the top and I wouldn’t have to use my other saw to cut out the center.  The letters are also a little wider than some which is good for preventing the wood from breaking. I painted the letters a soft pink then dabbed on a darker pink for a distressed look.  I used the same paper that I used in my previous post of the heart, as well as another Valentine’s...
