Home Blocks

Well, I finished my HOME blocks, and I gotta say I’m pretty happy with how they turned out!  As I said before, the primer I used was a pain in the neck, but I like how the white looks with the black paint.  Normally I would probably just paint the block black and sand the edges to have the raw wood show for a border, but the white stands out so nicely.  I found some scrapbooking paper with a greyish washed pattern on it, and I cut the word HOME out with the Cricut in black cardstock paper using the Cricut cartridge George.  The words FRIENDS AND FAMILY ALWAYS...

Painting Mistakes

I recently bought a can of white primer which was oil based.  I knew I would regret it, but I had asked the sales person if I could use a latex paint on top of it, and she said yes.  Confidently, I might add.  Well, not so.  I’ve put two coats of black on top and the white is still showing through.  Errrrr!  Also, I thought I’d be smart and buy a spray on primer, thinking it would be quicker.  Maybe I’m just not skilled enough with the ol’ aerosol can, because I found it went on thick, and was a real waste of paint.  Well, I guess...
